Bio

Born in Geldrop, the Netherlands (1994). I studied BA Fine Art at Minerva, Groningen, and MA Applied Arts and Design at the Sandberg Institute. I have lived and worked in Groningen and Amsterdam, and I currently live and work in Antwerp.

Artist Statement

My work manifests in transitional objects drawn from the everyday. Recognizable through symbolism yet weighted by material and context, they bring different experiences together and give form to the desire for connection, security and home.

From a bicultural, diasporic and transgenerational upbringing, I experienced belonging through multiple traditions, perspectives and forms of wisdom. The warmth within these experiences existed alongside contradictions, creating a sense of displacement that continues to inform my practice.

The everyday becomes a way of navigating and making sense of these experiences yet serve as a constant reminder of those differences. By bringing together different forms of knowledge, wisdom, rituals and traditions, I look for parallels where it feels that it still fits.

I aim to create a shared sense of belonging however delusional this might be.
