Bio

Born in Geldrop, the Netherlands (1994). I studied BA Fine Art at Minerva, Groningen, and MA Applied Arts and Design at the Sandberg Institute. I have lived and worked in Groningen and Amsterdam, and I currently live and work in Antwerp.

Artist Statement

From a bicultural, diasporic and transgenerational upbringing, I experienced belonging through multiple traditions, perspectives and forms of wisdom. The warmth within these experiences existed alongside contradictions, creating a sense of displacement that continues to inform my practice.These experiences shape a desire to find connection and create a sense of security within togetherness.

The everyday becomes a way of navigating and making sense of these experiences. By bringing together different forms of knowledge, wisdom, rituals and traditions, I look for parallels that can create a shared sense of belonging.

My work manifests in transitional objects drawn from the everyday. Recognizable through symbolism yet weighted by material and context, they bring different experiences together and give form to the desire for connection, security and home.
